Family Constellation

Family Constellation, collage of adhesive film on drawing polyester on light box. A Family Constellation is a therapeutic method that tries to uncover an unknown dynamic in a particular family. The method has been described by physicists as quantum mysticism. Its founder Bert Hellinger incorporated the speculative idea of morphic resonance into his explanation of it. Practitioners claim that present-day problems and difficulties may be influenced by traumas suffered in previous generations of the family. Even if those affected are unaware of the original event. The psychiatrist Iván Böszörményi-Nagy referred to this phenomenon as “invisible loyalties”. The philosophical orientation of Family Constellations were derived through an integration of existential phenomenology, family systems therapy, and elements of indigenous mysticism.

Reveal invisible patterns

Family constellations are known as a method to reveal invisible patterns in family relations and a practice to bring back fowl into your life. By depicting family constellations, I had to delve into the relationships in order to give each a proper place in the group portrait. In the past, the group portrait was also referred to as a civic guard portrait or a target portrait. Often the members of a guild of shooters were painted. The genre was exclusively practiced in The Netherlands (Holland) in the 16th and 17th centuries.
